Can I Feed my Puppy Baby Food?

Some puppy parents think that it is okay (or even quite healthy) to feed their pets baby food (for example, infant formula). So, is baby food good for puppies, and can you feed it to your puppy?

There’s only one ultimate answer to this question: “No!.” After the puppies are weaned from their mother, they should be fed a balanced puppy diet. Especially at this age, puppies need a well-composed diet that contains all the important vitamins and minerals necessary for prime health. When it comes to food, human babies and puppies have absolutely different needs. That’s why all baby foods, including infant formulas, are unsuitable for feeding to a puppy.

What happens if I feed my puppy baby food?

In addition to the fact that baby food does not contain the nutrients necessary for a puppy, there can be the following unpleasant consequences:

  • Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract
  • Diarrhea and/or vomiting
  • Allergic reactions

So, instead of feeding a puppy with baby food, it’s better to buy some high-quality dry Kibbles for Puppies. If you prefer a raw food diet, cook special puppy food or buy it ready-made.
